COVID19 Safety Info

Vaccination and Mask Policy for Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre rehearsals and performances in 2022:

The safety and health of our performers, audience and community is always our top priority. We are always ensuring that our staff, performers, crew, and audience members have a wonderful and memorable experience under the safest conditions possible.

At Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre, we follow the current guidelines of the NYC Department of Health and CDC Guidelines as well as Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Gardens’ Coronavirus/COVID-19 safety plans for use of the main outdoor grounds, gardens, and indoor spaces, and National Park Service COVID 19 safety plans in using of any Gateway National Park at Fort Wadsworth spaces.

We also closely follow the direction of our city and state health and elected officials regarding monitoring and containing COVID-19. For the latest available information about COVID-19, please check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website and the NYC Department of Health website.

Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre will continue to require vaccinations for audience members, as well as performers, backstage crew, and theatre staff, for all activities held within indoor spaces until government and official mandates have been changed. Masks will continue to be required for audiences inside the performance space, except while actively eating or drinking in designated locations.

We have practices to sanitize our high frequency areas, including performance and rehearsal spaces, and taking additional steps to expand those efforts. Current guidance encourages everyone to follow sanitary habits that prevent the transmission of germs:

  • Wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water before eating and after using the restroom
  • Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Cough/sneeze into the sleeve of your shirt or into tissues
  • Stay home if you are feeling ill
  • Give and accept a wave or a nod as a greeting at this time (no handshakes)
  • Wear face coverings when indoors, and outdoors when social distancing is not possible
  • Face coverings must cover the nose, mouth and chin, and fit snugly against the sides of the face.
  • Please follow the instructions of Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre staff as well as Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Gardens staff and security personnel, and National Park Service’s staff and Parks Police Department.

Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre reserves the right to revoke or refuse the admission of any person not in compliance with our company policies, Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Gardens operating policies, or National Park Service’s safety policies.

A risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public space where people are present. Those participating with Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre activities do so at their own risk of such exposure.
