SIST Presents: The Servant of Two Masters

Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre presents:

The Servant of Two Masters

By Carlo Goldoni
Translated by Stephen Mulrine

The Servant of Two Masters is a Venetian farce which has been adapted and translated hundreds of times since its creation in 1746, even directly inspiring the English adaptation: “One Man, Two Guvnors.” This ever-relevant piece is a laugh a minute and the gold standard of commedia dell’arte!

Written and set during a period of intense political unrest in Venetian history, the historical inhabitants of the sinking city were far too concerned with social capital and leading lives of pleasure in the gorgeous and culturally rich city to bother with the collapse of their democracy.
